Roofline: a hazard and home risk map for six states
Roofline is a free map of what can go wrong to the houses in a county or Census tract, and what those houses are. It shows FEMA National Risk Index scores and expected annual loss beside housing age, single-family share, heating fuel and homeowner share, for Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah and Washington. It works offline once a state has loaded.
- Twelve hazard scores (hurricane, strong wind, tornado, hail, coastal and inland flooding, lightning, heat wave, winter weather, wildfire, drought, earthquake) plus overall risk and expected annual loss
- Homes built before 1970, built 2000 or later, single-family share, homeowners, median home value, homes owned free and clear
- Heating fuel: gas, electric, oil and propane
- A radial hazard profile for any county, with the state median behind it and a second county to compare
- Every figure is a published area statistic with its source and vintage; the hazard scores are modelled estimates, not a forecast for any one house
